Community service is an integral part of a University School education. Throughout the year, we offer opportunities for our students, faculty & staff, parents, and alumni families, to make a difference by giving their time and energy to important projects in the Lowcountry. We are a non-sectarian school, but Hibben United Methodist Church graciously shares their facilities to house our school. Each year we show our appreciation by helping them unload the pumpkins for their annual Pumpkin Patch, which raises funds for their various missions here and abroad. This year, we unloaded all the pumpkins in less than 3 hours! 

Kate Paczkowski says: “It was a lot of fun. Not only that, but I was helping my community. The main reason it was fun was because all of your friends are there and you get to talk and laugh while you unload pumpkins. You are also helping your community because we didn’t get paid to unload them. It was also great because all of the money that they sold the pumpkins was used to help fuel their missionary program. The great thing about USL is that they teach us the importance of helping others and not just yourself, because hopefully you will go out in the community and do good. Not for money, but from the goodness of your heart.
