Alumni Profile: Jacob Ufkes
Years at USL: 2007-2009, 7th-8th grade
Favorite USL class/teacher: My favorite teacher was Mrs. Rhonda Ewing. Her science class was taught at a higher level then most traditional middle school science classes, which in turn provided me with the skills to succeed throughout the course of my education.
Favorite USL memory: My favorite part of going to USL was the Wednesday field trips. I specifically enjoyed the trip to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot on Paris Island. Being able to explore the base, meet the marines, and play around on the obstacle course was an experience that I will never forget.
Most important lesson learned at USL: The most important thing that I learned during my time at USL was the value of face to face interaction with members of the local community. Life involves a lot of interaction with others and the skills learned at USL allowed me to build relationships easily, and therefore set myself apart from my peers.
